Steven J. Texeira

The Staff of the Sheriffs' Relief Association is saddened to announce the passing of retired Deputy Steven J. Texeira, age 61.  Steve passed away on February 19, 2012 from complications associated with Alzheimers.  Steve joined the Sheriff's Department as a Correctional Officer on January 6, 1969 and became a Deputy on March 12, 1973.  Steve retired on November 1, 1977 from Lennox Station.  Steve is the beloved husband of 38 years to retired LASD Deputy Mary E. Texeira , who served on the Department from December 5, 1968 to June 11, 1986.  Services will be private.

Wayne F. Blackwill

The Staff of the Sheriffs' Relief Association is saddened to announce the passing of retired Deputy IV Wayne F. Blackwill, age 70.  Wayne passed away on December 7, 2011 from heart failure.  Wayne joined the Sheriff's Department on August 10, 1964 and retired from the Training Bureau on September 5, 1979.  Services were previously held.

Wayne was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.

Samuel F. Miller

The Staff of the Sheriffs' Relief Association is saddened to announce the passing of retired Sergeant Samuel F. Miller, age 78.  Sam passed away on January 27, 2012 from pneumonia.  Sam joined the Sheriff's Department on August 6, 1956 and retired from the Inmate Reception Center on March 17, 1986.  Services will be held in the Hillside Chapel at Rose HIlls Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Road,, Whittier, CA on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.

Sam served in the United States Air Force.

Lavona J. Shea

The Staff of the Sheriffs' Relief Association is saddened to announce the passing of retired Sergeant Lavona Shea, age 68.  Lavona passed away on January 15, 2012 from natural causes.  Lavona joined the Sheriff's Department on February 20, 1969 and retired from the Commercial Crimes Bureau on March 31, 2000.  A celebration of Lavona's life will be held at the Spa Resort, 100 N. Indian Canyon Road, Palm Springs, CA., phone (888) 999-1995 on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  If you plan to attend please contact Dave and Loxi Hagthrop at dhagthrop@aol.com.
